Contraception information translated into community languages

Using contraception can help you prevent becoming pregnant, and different methods may suit you at different times in your life. The main types include long acting reversible contraception (such as the intrauterine device and the contraceptive implant), medium and short acting methods (such as the injection, vaginal ring, combined pill and mini pill), barrier methods (such as condoms and the diaphragm), and emergency contraception.

Information about contraception is available in many languages. If you would prefer to read or talk about your options in a language other than the one you are reading now, you do not have to manage on your own.

You can ask your doctor, a pharmacist, or a sexual and reproductive health service for:

  • contraception information in your preferred language, including written materials where available
  • an interpreter, so you can discuss your options and ask questions comfortably during an appointment

Getting clear information in a language you understand can help you choose the method that is right for you.
